After a very successful experience last year, the Spanish Department decided to organise this event again.

A group of 18 UIV Spanish students attended a cookery masterclass at La Cucina Caldesi on Tuesday 19th June ’18 accompanied by Ms El Akel and myself. The group had learnt about vocabulary linked to cooking, food, Spanish cuisine and eating habits as part of their syllabus, so this was an excellent educational experience to conclude the current academic year. The chef Carolina demonstrated how to make “montaditos” (with tomato, pork and cheese topping). They were shown how to make “albóndigas de carne en salsa de tomate” (meat balls in a tomato sauce). After this, they looked at how to cook “champiñones al ajillo” (a variety of mushrooms cooked with garlic and thyme). Finally, they were taught how to bake “tarta de naranja con aceite de oliva”, which is an orange cake made with olive oil. After being exposed to the recipes, the girls were separated in 4 groups and they had the opportunity to have a go at it. The food was superb and the girls were very pleased and proud of the result. ¡Muy bien, chicas! ¡Qué rica la comida!
