Helena is a gifted English student in the Lower Sixth who enjoys writing poetry.

Last year, one of her poems was shortlisted for the prestigious Christopher Tower Poetry Competition, a national competition for 16-18 year olds. This year, Helena sent one of her poems, entitled ‘The Birthday Present’ to another national competition, The Foyle Young Poets Competition. This is for 11-17 year olds. Each year, from around 10,000 entries, 100 winners (85 commended and 15 winners) are chosen by a panel of high profile judges. Helena’s poem was one of the 85 commended and she was invited to the awards ceremony which took place last week at the South Bank, on National Poetry Day on Thursday 6th October.

The above photo is from the ceremony. We are extremely proud of Helena’s talents and of her achievements.
