On Wednesday 1st May, we welcomed our FHS community to the Hall for our annual Sports Awards Evening. The event was a fantastic celebration of sporting excellence, recognising our students’ commitment and dedication to the sporting life of FHS. We were also honoured to welcome a very special VIP as our guest speaker: Eboni Usoro-Brown, former England netball player (boasting an impressive 117 caps!), sports commentator and corporate litigation lawyer.

Students were invited onstage to receive their awards in a host of categories including Sportswoman of the Year, Team of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year, as well as awards recognising outstanding achievement and progress in a variety of sports.

We were then honoured to hear an impressive speech from Eboni Usoro-Brown. Following an impressive career in international netball, including being part of the England squad who won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Eboni now splits her time between sports commentating, working in corporate litigation law, being an ambassador for the Mintridge Foundation and being a mother – amongst other things! In her speech, Eboni reflected on key milestones in her career and how she maintained resilience, strength and dedication throughout. She offered the girls invaluable advice to our students about sticking to their goals, getting comfortable with feeling uncomfortable in the pursuit of success and the importance of balancing training with academic dedication.

We would like to extend our enormous thanks to Eboni for coming to our Sports Awards Evening as our VIP guest speaker and inspiring the girls with her incredible success story. A huge well done also to every single award winner for representing FHS on the track, field, pitch and in the pool throughout the past year with such dedication, commitment and enthusiasm. Finally, thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us on Wednesday night to celebrate our girls’ successes, and thank you to the PE Department for a fantastic evening of celebration.
