FHS alumna, Milly, shares details of her time doing work experience at The Trouble Club.

“Following Ellie Newton’s fantastic talk on International Women’s Day and subsequent sixth form lecture last term; I was honoured when she agreed to have me as an Intern at The Trouble Club. The Trouble Club, which Ellie is both owner and CEO of, is a Private Member’s Club run by women, which hosts events with inspirational speakers, who just so happen to all be female too. During my week with the club, I was tasked with curating and contacting a list of speakers and for an upcoming event, was able to write a blog post for their website (for which my time on the ‘Nearly Polished Newspaper’ came in extremely handy) and was even given access to run their social media channels for the week! I was also lucky enough to attend an in-person Life Coaching session at The Hearth, where coach Ginet Esprit shared her knowledge on reaching your full potential and challenging negative thoughts using cognitive reframing. In addition, I also attended an online event with CEO of female empowerment charity BelEve, Marsha Powell, as she shared her experience of founding a charity, and the problems still existing for women and girls in the 21st century, it was a truly inspirational discussion.

I am extremely grateful to Ellie and the Trouble Club for having me and letting me into the amazing work that they do, and to Ms Bere for putting me in touch!”
