This week our visiting speaker was Peter Radford, an experienced teacher and founder of ‘Beyond This’. Opening up with an examination of the root causes of misogyny in our society, how unconscious bias continues to play a part in perpetuating the myth that women are someway inferior to men.

Our students definitely identify as feminists, wanting to be strong forward thinking, capable and empowered to succeed in their lives. The big question we discussed was how to root out the biases that perpetuate in our society, we agreed that we have a responsibility to recognise and call out behaviour that belittle and denigrate women.

The talk culminated with a discussion of the crimes that are sexual harassment and sexual assault. The students were given plenty of fodder for further discussion on this topic. Find out more at www.beyondthis.co.uk
