Today, our good friend and FHS parent, Bel Jacobs, spoke about the treatment of animals by humans, in particular, agricultural meat production.

Her passionate presentation communicated the desperate way that animals are mistreated across the globe, yet also the significant contribution to the destabilisation of the planet that industrial farming makes. Essentially, meat and dairy diets contribute to more global issues than most of us realise and how every small step to reducing the impact is worth making.

Bel is aiming for a world where our love for animals makes it “weird” for us to see them as food.Ā  With a bleak resumĆ© of the situation as it stands, Bel was able to show us hopeful developments that show empathy in action, like sanctuary farming (A #blind #cow named Helen meets her best friend, Margaret, another #dairy survivor šŸ‚šŸ¤ŽšŸ‚ #milk (youtube.com))

Many thanks to Maia and Thalia for their excellent questions.
