2022 marks 101 years since the nation’s collective Remembrance traditions were first brought together. This morning, our whole school community paused to remember all those who have tragically lost their lives serving our country.
Headmistress Mrs Woodcock led a poignant assembly in which she encouraged us to remember all the men, women, children and animals who lost their lives in service of the nation. We also were treated to three moving and eloquent readings from the girls and a performance of the Last Post bugle call, before two minutes of silence and reflection at 11am.
The assembly concluded with prayers led by our Church Liaison Mrs Bexon and a heartfelt performance of I Vow to You My Country by the whole school community and a melodic performance by our Senior Chamber Choir, conducted by our Director of Music Miss Murphy, from the upper balcony.
Our Remembrance commemorations also extended to the front steps of the School, where we asked each form to use a template of a poppy to share a thought or prayer to create our Remembrance Garden, a tradition which has now been going for the last five years. It has been lovely to once again see such sweet and meaningful messages from the girls.
