We were pleased to welcome over 70 alumni back to school for the annual Quondam Lunch on Saturday 5th November.
Those attending included former staff and pupils, all eager to catch up with each others news and share memories of their time at Francis Holland.
The morning began with an energetic netball match between Old Girls, including guest star Mr Fillingham in Goal Defence. After an exciting hour of friendly play, the game concluded in a draw, with everyone claiming a gold medal!
Meanwhile, other guests enjoyed a drinks reception at school and interesting tours of the building by Sixth Form students. Alumni were fascinated to see the new buildings that hadn’t existed in their day as well as describe some of their favourite memories to our current cohort.
After the traditional AGM, which saw new and existing members elected/re-elected to the Quondam Committee, everyone descended on the Hall for a delicious lunch. During the lunch a number of gifts were presented, including to the oldest alumna in attendance who celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this year. The whole hall delighted in hearing extracts from her report card and the progress she made throughout school.
Following the Lunch, Charles Fillingham interviewed alumna Katie Taylor on stage about her time working at the BBC. Highlights included hearing about her role on Strictly Come Dancing as well as her insightful advice to younger alumna on succeeding in business.
With alumna representing every decade since the 1940s right up to 2013, this was a wonderful afternoon to demonstrate the continued strength of the Old Girls community. We look forward to future events and all current students joining the Old Girls when they leave Francis Holland.
