On Saturday 2nd October, 67 Lower School students came to a day’s training on debating.
In the morning they honed their skills on public speaking, structuring an argument and rebutting an opponent. 15 Sixth Formers were trained in how to chair and judge a debate. In the afternoon they put these skills into practice with a debate on the motion: “This House believes going to lessons should be optional”. The Sixth Formers chaired and judged with great maturity and wisdom. The Lower School students argued with great spirit and perseverance.
Well done to all involved on a lively day of debating.
