Our Upper Fifth linguists enjoyed visits from Onatti Productions, specialists in MFL plays, last week. They have recounted their experiences below:
On Tuesday 16th November, we had the pleasure of attending a Spanish play called “El Campamento”. The story is about a couple, Mattias and Catalina, who go camping for a romantic trip. Mattias brings too many suitcases and bags, even though they are only camping for one weekend. There is no WiFi at the campsite, so they canāt call a taxi to get food. Mattias finds crisps in the tent and eats them all and hides them from Catalina, which then causes them to fight and for her to break his shoe and for him to rip her teddy. In the end, they make up. In the meantime, the characters have interacted with us and one of the students, Farah, was called on stage to help the communication between the couple. It was very entertaining, and we can’t wait for the next one to happen.

The French onatti play had a comic story line about family relationships and was a great way to practice translating and listening. It was thoroughly entertaining due to the actor’s enthusiasm. The story was easy to understand as the actors were so engaging and clear with their words.

Last week our year group got the pleasure of watching the French Onatti play. The play’s theme was based around birthdays. When HĆ©lĆØne doesnāt get what she wants for her birthday, she wishes for better presents, a cooler family and kinder friends. However, when her wishes start to become true she regrets it and misses normality. The play was a great success as it taught us new vocabulary and new phrases but most importantly we loved the humour and how fun it was. The actors spoke eloquently making the play easy to follow along. Overall, the Onatti play was an excellent way to improve our French.
