On Tuesday lunchtime, all the Martians of Francis Holland met up in the Hall to have a special lunch. It was catered especially for us, with food having a red theme (the red cake was a nice touch). Whilst we enjoyed the meal, the house captain (me!) had made an Inter-House quiz for everyone to participate in.
After the meal, I felt like I had my Richard Osman moment when I went on the stage to start the quiz. The themes were very random. To ensure that no one was at a disadvantage, I picked trivial knowledge, like how many wives Henry VIII had, but also very niche topics ā does anyone know the name of a baby alpaca? Making sure that the younger years were not at a disadvantage, teachers encouraged each table to be seated with Martians from different year groups; this was a great way for people to bond with members of their house.
After the five rounds, we went through the answers, with scores ranging from 5/25 to 18/25! This was a great indicator to show how diverse our houseās understanding of random knowledge is. It was wonderful that so many people turned up. I think we are now even more motivated to win the one-armed house cup this year!
