On Thursday 9th February, Mars House held a charity day to raise much needed funds for the victims of the devastating earthquake that happened in Turkey and Syria this week. With Valentine’s Day looming, we decided to dedicate the event to ‘love’. We wanted to ensure everyone got involved so we tasked each year group with a special contribution. The Thirds held an incredible bake sale. Special mention goes to the ‘out of this world’ Mars-themed cakes. The Lower Fourth were entrusted with the lucky dip. Sweets, tattoos and a variety of fabulous goodies made for a wonderful ‘dip’. They topped their contribution off with a ‘guess how many mini eggs are in the jar’ competition. Huge congratulations to ‘eagle-eyed’ Izzy K in IIIN who guessed correctly that the jar held a whopping 220 eggs. Upper fourth organised a superb raffle to win a coveted Starbucks gift card, and congratulations to Bella in IIIJ who won.
Lower Fifth organised the hugely popular photobooth that truly captured the fun of the event. Last but not least, the Sixth Form! Being able to send chocolate hearts to your friends was truly enjoyed by everyone, including the teachers. They were so popular that by the time I went to buy one they were sold out! Greatest thanks to everyone who dedicated their time and efforts to show their love and support to those struggling in the aftermath of such tragedy in Syria and Turkey. We raised £370 in one hour which I’m sure will be greatly appreciated by the Earthquake Appeal.
