This week, our LVI engineers attended the Industrial Cadet Gold Award (Gold Award | Industrial Cadets) celebration event, where they received their Gold Award badges. This is the fifth year that FHS has participated in the programme, which pairs groups of 4-6 LVI pupils with mentors in engineering companies. Over the course of seven months, they work on real-world engineering problems. This year, our team of six LVI students worked with PCS Instruments (https://pcs-instruments.com/) and were tasked with designing and building a demonstration model of one of the company’s lubricant testing machines. The project involved using Autodesk Inventor for design, 3D printing, electronics, and coding on a Raspberry Pi. The programme culminated with a written technical report, a working model of their project, and a presentation to a panel of external engineers.

During the celebration event at UCL on Tuesday, our team not only received the national accreditation of the Gold Award but was also the runner-up for the Teamwork award andĀ won Project of the Year for our region! This marks the second consecutive year that Francis Holland, Regent’s Park engineers have won Project of the Year, representing a tremendous success for the school. Congratulations to Ina, Charlotte, Hana, Dyala, Catharine, and Lily! What a team! Your school and the entire Francis Holland community are incredibly proud of you.
