Fencing has been reintroduced at FHS after a hiatus of several years, offering pupils across all year groups the chance to try the sport!
Taking place in the school’s Hall the workshop features modern equipment, including practice swords, protective masks, and padded jackets, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all.
The girls were introduced to the fundamentals: proper stance, footwork, and basic thrusts and parries, gradually building up to more complex manoeuvres.
The workshop fosters a supportive atmosphere where students not only learn the intricacies of fencing but also develop confidence, focus, and teamwork. The reintroduction of this dynamic sport has been met with resounding success, rekindling an appreciation for the historic tradition.
Well done girls!
