From Wednesday 3rd to Saturday 6th April, Mrs Parkes and Mrs Phillips took sixteen FHS girls and four City of London boys, with their accompanying teacher, to Chateau d’Hallines in northern France for a creative writing residential trip.
The students participated in a series of workshops led by two poet-tutors, Kate Potts and Dai George. Following games, prompts and discussions, the girls enjoyed the chance to write independently, and produced an impressive variety of poetry.
The students were inspired by the poets, other poems and film clips, and spent time writing in the beautiful, sunny grounds of Chateau d’Hallines. The swing, trampoline and bicycles were also popular! The four day residential culminated in a poetry recital on the final evening, where every student read out their favourite composition, to rapturous applause. A happy, productive trip.
