A group of 13 LV-LVI students visited the Bay of Naples during the first week of the October half-term (15th-20th October).

After a 2.30am coach from FHS, there was no time to sleep with a trip to climb Mount Vesuvius straight from the airport. The panoramic views of Naples were well worth the trek. Over the following days we also visited the amazing ancient sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Paestum. The imposing temples at Paestum, the vividness of the wall paintings at Pompeii and perhaps, most movingly the skeletons at Herculaneum, all helped to bring the Classical world vividly to life. There was also time to shop in Capri and marvel at the yachts of the rich and famous. On the last evening we finally made it down to the beach near the hotel to watch the sunset with a gelato. An amazing time was had by all.
