Twenty girls from Francis Holland visited Black Ven Farm in Nutley, Sussex, on Tuesday 12th April.

They had a wonderful time, holding and bottle feeding new-born lambs, putting silage out for the pedigree Sussex cattle, and collecting eggs from the chickens. They learned a great deal about organic farming, and enjoyed a walk around the farm through the ancient bluebell woodland. Before we left, girls had the chance to experience the view from the cab of a tractor! Elizabeth Buchanan, a polished corner and former governor at FHS, guided us round her farm for the day. We’d like to thank her very much for her time and expertise – the farm is a really inspiring place.
