It was with huge excitement that we welcomed Baroness Lady Brenda Hale to Francis Holland School on Tuesday 4th October to launch our new lecture series, the Hale Lectures.
We have named our lecture series after Baroness Lady Hale as we are inspired by her amazing journey from growing up in a small Yorkshire village to eventually becoming the first female President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. Lady Hale’s determination, tenacity, and graft are truly admirable qualities. Lady Hale delivered an enlightening lecture about her life as a lady law lord, which was followed by a range of fantastic questions led by students. We were delighted to see a packed audience in the main school Hall with pupils and teachers from schools including Francis Holland Sloane Square, Wetherby School, St. Marylebone School, King Solomon Academy and All Saints Catholic College. One parent summed up the evening’s talk perfectly: “Lady Hale was truly inspirational. She is the whole package – deeply intelligent yet so humble, witty and approachable. I could have listened to her the whole evening!”
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We will be promoting our next Hale Lecture shortly. Watch this space!
