We had a wonderful day recording the autumn concert in St Cyprian’s Church on Thursday 26th November. Each year group presented an ensemble and choir and girls performed with energy and confidence. Instrumental groups played with real commitment and we had stunning singing in the vocal groups from all years. Repertoire was varied across all year groups, from Sixth Form soloists, Jasmin M and Talia G who performed Monteverdi’s expressive, Pur Te Miro from Coronation of Poppea to the Thirds who sang an energetic, The Rhythm of Life and The Beatles, Blackbird. The newly launched Upper Fourth Gospel Choir sang Halo and girls from Lower Fifth sang Hallelujah with enthusiasm. Upper Fifth’s close harmonies were impressive in the choral arrangement of Billy Joel’s And So It Goes and the Lower Fourth choir sang Pure Imagination with a beautiful choral sound. We had two impressive solo items: Olivia A wowed with glorious singing in Mozart’s Una Donna from Cose Fan Tutte and Scarlett B played Noctuelles. by Ravel with virtuosity.
Whilst maintaining social distance, we brought bubble choirs together in Whitacre’s haunting Seal Lullaby and the Upper Fifth added an echo choir in Biebl’s glorious Ave Maria. The Sixth Form Ensemble finished off the concert with an impressive performance of Vivaldi’s Concerto for 4 Violins in B minor with soloists, Tara M, Jasmin K, Siena H and Grace G.
There were so many other wonderful performances. A massive well done to all – Ms Zarina, Mr Smith and Ms Murphy were extremely proud of all pupils!
