Happy Birthday, Francis Holland!
On Thursday 9th February 2017, we celebrated the 139th School Birthday. As always, we began the day with a birthday church service, during which Mr Fillingham reflected upon the school’s history and, in particular, the way in which it has always supported and practised the empowerment of girls.
The whole school then crowded into the hall for the birthday cake cutting – the Thirds were lucky enough to get a front row seat, their hands excitedly clutching at the stage as our chef, Mr King, brought out his glorious creation. After a rousing rendition of happy birthday, the oldest girl in the Upper Sixth and the youngest girl in the Thirds joined with Mr Fillingham and Mr King to blow out the candles and cut the cake. Each year then rushed to the dining room to get their own piece of cake!
After break, the celebrations continued with the much anticipated Inter-Form Drama finals. The winners will be announced later this afternoon – check back for details!
All in all, it was a wonderful birthday, and we look forward to our 139th year with much excitement!
