Sport

Francis Holland Regent’s Park seeks to promote a positive, lifelong approach to sport, PE and leisure through the provision of a wide choice of activities and the development of excellence in those who choose to pursue an activity to a higher level.

The School has a dedicated domain for all sports results, match reports and fixture information which can be accessed here.

ON-SITE FACILITIES

Even though the school is situated in the heart of Marylebone, sport is still a very important part of school life. Our on-site facilities include a swimming pool, a well-equipped sports hall and playground.

OFF-SITE FACILITIES

Most outdoor sports take place at Regentā€™s Park, where there are superb facilities: extensive grass and all-weather pitches, all-weather netball courts and all-weather tennis courts.

Athletics and hockey practice takes place at Paddington Recreation Ground where we operate an efficient bus service to transfer pupils. Our annual Sports Day is hosted at Finsbury Park Athletics Track.

We also make use of Church Street Sports Hall for indoor netball practice as well as the Westway Sports Centre for climbing.

The PE Department runs an extensive co-curricular programme offering a full range of activities catering to all strengths and abilities, encouraging pupils to keep fit and healthy either through a competitive or non-competitive environment. These activities take place before school, lunchtime and after school. We offer a range of teams and clubs, which gives all pupils the opportunity to try something new. The gymnastics and dance clubs work towards the annual Gym and Dance Display in the Spring Term. There is also a wide range of inter-house competitions, including netball, football and hockey, which allows everyone to get involved and make a positive contribution to the sporting life of the school.

Our co-curricular offering features a wide range of sports including:

At the performance level, pupils have the opportunity to train on a weekly basis and compete in fixtures and tournaments across London. We expect full commitment to our sporting teams, which includes regular attendance to training sessions where we focus on reaching a high level of achievement. These sports include Athletics, Cricket, Cross Country, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Swimming and Tennis.

Once again, the school has entered the England Schools Cross Country. As well as the England Schools Tier 2 Hockey Tournament.

As well as tournaments in the UK, we are pleased to offer international tour opportunities in a range of sports. In 2023, our FHS Swim Team spent a week in Tenerife training and competing in an international swimming gala. In 2024, our Hockey and Netball teams toured South Africa and we look forward to a Swimming Tour to Malta in 2025.
