Did you know that our new Sixth Form Centre takes its name from a beautiful part of the country? Both Linhope House and Linhope Street are named after an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Northumberland.
To help you to visualise the rather remote location of the Linhope Estate, let’s say that it is found north of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and south of Berwick-Upon-Tweed, just inland from the North Sea coast and not far from Holy Island on Lindisfarne. Northumberland is, of course, Englandās least populous county in terms of the average number of inhabitants, with just 62 persons per square kilometre according to the latest census information. This compares with 12,000 persons per square kilometre in the City of Westminster.
The most famous feature in Linhope is its waterfall, which is known as Linhope Spout. There is a signposted walk from over footpaths to the water spout (click here for the link) and hardy souls have been known to leap from the rocks into the 5 metre deep plunge pool – there are various videos of this daredevil feat on YouTube.
