The annual Inter House Drama Competition showcased an inspiring array of performances and dazzling costumes, all centering around strong female figures from Fairy Tales, Novels and Women of Influence. Our judges – Sixth Form Drama Scholars and Teacher of Drama, Miss Trump – were thoroughly impressed by the level of research by all groups to inspire their productions.
Representatives from the Thirds (Year 7) through to Upper Fourth (Year 9) in each house brought unique interpretations of iconic women, blending history and contemporary role models.
One house depicted the story of actress, Emma Watson, highlighting her transformation from a beloved actress to a passionate activist advocating for gender equality. Another house reimagined Snow White, presenting her not as a damsel in distress but as a self-reliant leader who defied expectations. An historical segment featured Sofia Tolstaya, shedding light on her intellectual contributions and resilience as the wife and editor of Leo Tolstoy.
The audience was enlightened by the groups’ unique ways of showcasing various leading female characters, emphasising their courage, intelligence, and impact across different eras.
Enthusiastic performances, creative storytelling, and thought-provoking themes captivated the audience, reinforcing the importance of strong female voices. Each set concluded with rousing applause, recognising the talent and dedication of all participants, before we were treated to an excerpt of Shakespeare’s The Tempest by our Lower Sixth Drama students!
Congratulations to all of the girls involved and we can’t wait to hear the results of this year’s spectacular Inter House Drama competition!
