On Tuesday the 28th of January the UIV latin and gratin classes went on a trip to the London Mithraeum.

The trip started with identifying various different Roman objects and we then went down to Roman level which was about 5 meters below. We heard recordings of different professors talking about the cult of Mithras and then we went into the multi-sensory Mithraeum experience. We saw the reconstructed remains of the temple of Mithras and were transported back to AD 240 with dim lighting, fog, sounds of footsteps and chanting. It was a fascinating trip and we even managed to translate some of the latin chants that we heard!
