SPOKE is an art historical, documentary film making competition set up by St Marys School in Ascot.
Students are asked to submit a short film about any one work of art – and this can be anything from a painting through sculpture to conceptual and performance art. It is designed to challenge students to link the visual and the verbal in an imaginative and creative manner, underpinned by solid academic research.
Credit is awarded for well-researched and thought provoking scripts; for imaginative use of images and camera work; and for clear and creative links made between text and image. Lucys film ticked all of these boxes and she ended up coming third! It is a national competition, entered by many, and the standard was high, so the fact that Lucy did so well really is an outstanding achievement.
