We encourage 'sports for all' through the delivery of a wide range of sports teams and clubs. Sports clubs welcome girls of all ages and abilities, whilst our school sports teams focus on reaching a high level of achievement through the delivery of regular coaching practices and an extensive fixtures list.

We are extremely fortunate to have the use of Regent's Park where girls play netball, tennis and rounders. We also have good on-site facilities including an indoor swimming pool and a gymnasium and fitness suite.

The PE department is extremely committed to offering girls the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular sport, in the hope that physical activity will continue into adulthood.

PE Kit

Curriculum

Year 7 & 8

Girls participate in 6 periods of PE a week. This consists of 1 double netball, 1 double hockey, a single period of gym / dance and a single swimming lesson. In the summer term, the winter games are replaced by tennis and rounders.

Year 9

Girls have 5 periods of PE a week. These lessons consist of 2 double games lessons (netball and hockey) and a single period of volleyball / waterpolo (one term of each). Girls are also taught first aid as part of a 6 week carousel programme. In the summer term, girls are taught tennis and rounders in their games lessons.

Year 10

Girls participate in 3 periods of PE a week; 1 triple lesson. For the Autumn term, girls are taught in a carousel of games including netball, hockey and volleyball/fitness. For the Spring term, we transport the Year 10s to the Westway Sports centre, where they participate in a rotation of rock climbing, soccer and netball. In the Summer term, the girls practice and play rounders, tennis and athletics. PE GCSE students also have an additional 4 periods of theory per week.

Year 11

Girls participate in 3 periods of PE a week; 1 triple lesson. For the Autumn term, girls are taught in a carousel of games including netball, hockey and dance/yoga. For the Spring term, the girls are asked to choose one of the 3 previous term's options to improve upon. In the Summer term, the girls practice and play rounders and tennis. PE GCSE students also have an additional 4 periods of theory per week.

Sixth Form

Girls participate in a double period of PE per week in an activity of their choice. Choices range from netball, hockey, yoga, dance, fitness, basketball, soccer, self defense and indoor games. Suggestions for other interesting sports are always encouraged.

Beyond the Classroom

The PE extra-curricular programme aims to offer a full range of activities catering to all strengths and abilities. This extensive list of pursuits is run on a weekly basis; after school, at lunchtime and before school. Facilities include our school gymnasium, school pool, school playground, school hall, Regent's Park Tennis Centre, Marylebone Green (Regent's Park), Paddington Recreational Ground. All students are encouraged to join as many clubs as possible and improve their social, emotional, cognitive and physical awareness.

Sports do not build character. They reveal it.
